Taylor Russell's perspex corset bubble hem gown is an ethereal dream
The 2024 Venice Film Festival may only have kicked off yesterday [Wednesday 28 August], but Taylor Russell has already won the red carpet. The Canadian actress – who is serving as a member of the jury this year – attended the Beetlejuice Beetlejuice premiere on the opening night of the festival, and despite over a week of red carpet events remaining, we're pretty sure her stunning look cannot be beaten. Quite the claim, we know, but stay with us on this one.
For the evening's festivities, Taylor opted for an ethereal white gown pulled straight from the Chanel archives, specifically the French fashion house's Spring/Summer 1993 couture collection. I mean, '90s Chanel, need we say more? Arguably no, but we will.
Consisting of a V-neck corseted bodice constructed from completely see-through perspex panels edged in white stitching, the bust of the design was adorned with palm motif embroidery to prevent any free-the-nip moments.
The design then led to a trailing XL white skirt that rivalled any wedding dress train with a voluminous pouffy bubble hem skirt overlayer to add extra drama. The puffball mini was made from the same perspex as the bodice, covered entirely in the leafy decoration.
A white bangle and Tiffany & Co. jewellery were her only accessories, with Taylor showing off her fresh pixie cut and opting for a fresh beauty look with rosy blush.
Taylor's dress appears to be a recreation of the 1993 original. Worn by supermodel Claudia Schiffer on the runway, the bodice looks to be constructed from mesh with the perspex a new addition to the replica.
Forget Venice, with this look we think we might be in fashion heaven.
