Taylor Swift's 'Red'-Inspired Grammys Beauty Look Left Many Swifties Shocked
While a classic red lipstick has become somewhat of a signature look for Taylor Swift, her monochromatic Grammys make-up left many fans feeling shocked. Wherever Swift goes, rumours of a Reputation (Taylor's Version) announcement will surely follow, and as the 66th Annual Grammy Awards last year saw the singer introduce her 11th studio album The Tortured Poets Department, many Swifties waited in the wings of last night's event expecting a similarly dramatic acceptance speech - not to mention, a statement Reputation-themed beauty look.
Sadly, serpents and smoky eyes were nowhere to be seen at the 67th iteration of the awards, and instead the 35-year-old superstar stepped out in a bold and bright, entirely ruby red ensemble. From lips to nails, Swift's whole beauty moment was hooked around the glittery tone of her scarlet Vivienne Westwood mini dress, adorned with a 'T' charm, a speculated tribute to her boyfriend American footballer Travis Kelce.
For lipstick, Swift skewed away from her rumoured favourite shade (Pat McGrath Labs Liquilust Legendary Wear Matte Lipstick in shade 'Elson 4'), opting for an electric, near orange-toned hue to match her subtle cat eye liner. The singer kept her nails simple but elegant; think her trademark short, square shape with an ever-traditional crimson glaze on top.
It's long been said that Swift does nothing without reason, dotting 'Easter eggs' throughout her music videos and red carpet looks, but fans have yet to decipher exactly what this all-red look is in reference to. Some have noted its connection to Swift's 2012 album Red, however the re-recording of said album already garnered ample success after its re-release in 2021. The singer was one of the artists, alongside nine-time Grammy winner Billie Eilish, snubbed for any of awards in leading categories and as a result, no such announcement came to be. When it does, however, we'll look forward to the sultry Reputation-coded looks that follow.
We anticipate that red-toned beauty looks will be in abundance throughout the remainder of awards season, as Pinterest predicts the trend 'cherry coded' will make waves across beauty and fashion. Expect to see lacquered letterbox lips and classic ruby manicures rife from the runway to the red carpet, alongside a generous helping of bold crimson accessories.
