Teddy Geiger walks the red carpet for the first time since announcing gender transition

Singer-songwriter Teddy Geiger made made her first public appearance since announcing her gender transition.

Geiger looked confident and happy as she attended the 68th annual BMI Pop Awards at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills, wearing a belted black patterned dress and glasses.

In October 2017, the now 29-year-old announced via Instagram her plans to transition after a fan commented on her changing appearance.

“OK… because you asked nicely… I am transitioning,” Geiger replied. “I started talking about it with a couple of my close friends and family about a month ago and it’s given me the courage to start the process.”

Geiger’s fans, including frequent collaborator Shawn Mendes, shared their support online. Geiger has written several songs for Mendes including “Mercy” and “Youth.”

In November, Geiger announced to fans that she had begun hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and thanked fans for their support.

Geiger shot to fame in 2006 with the release of her record, Underage Thinking, which featured the single, “For You I Will (Confidence).”
