A teenager on TikTok is sharing how her friends came together to help her secure a dress for prom.

Earlier this month, TikTok user Ava, who goes by the username @stewie.the.subie shared a candid video, opening up about the loss of her mom when she was 7 years old. The video, shared on April 14, has garnered more than 1.2 million likes and 10,000 comments.

"My mom died when I was 7, and my only friend from school told his mom I don't have money for a dress for prom and she offered to take me dress shopping," the teen wrote over the video that showed her teary-eyed in her car. She captioned the video: “sobbing.”

Commenters were supportive of her post, writing that she should absolutely take her friend's mom up on the offer.

"Please take her up on it. I’m a mom and wouldn’t just offer it; she really wants to help you. Enjoy your prom hunny," one user wrote.

Others, like TikToker @shoelover99 and small business account @pinkpowernailsllc, offered to send her items other than a dress to complete her look for prom, including shoes and nails.

"Take it! She truly wants to be apart of your day! Also, as a boy mom, I’d love to be able to switch role one day and do prom dress shopping too!!" another user wrote.

In a follow-up video shared just two days later, Ava explained that she was so grateful to everyone who commented, adding that she would keep all her interested viewers updated when she went with her friend's mom to try on dresses later in the week.

"I'm really appreciative of anybody who supported that video that blew up," she said. "I can afford to go to prom this year now. I originally wasn't gonna go ... You guys kinda made it happen and I appreciate that."

On April 18, the teenager shared another update with her followers showing the more than half a dozen dresses she tried on — with her friend's mom "oohing" and "ahhing" in the background.

"Walk and twirl, but don't trip and fall!" the mom can be heard saying in the clip, as Ava tries on a glittering, purple floor-length gown.

The teen can be seen also trying on a baby blue satin gown, a short black cocktail dress, a satin dark blue dress with a slit and a chiffon-looking light pink dress, which her friend's mother says makes her look like "the fairy that you are."

"Core memories with my stand-in mom," she wrote over the video.

In the end, Ava went home with a floor-length royal blue gown with a tight bodice, noting that it was "finally the one I loved" — but not before teasing that her final look for prom night with her boyfriend was yet to come.
