Tess Holliday’s honest post reminds struggling moms to hang in there

Motherhood is no easy task. But for some, the daily stresses of parenting can be downright overbearing. That was the case for size-model, Tess Holliday, who’s the mom to two boys. She recently opened up about the “dark times” in an Instagram post, alongside a photo of her nurturing her newest son.

To the outside eye the picture captures a perfect moment — Holliday is rocking some amazing ribbon-infused braids and the house looks clean and calm. Her dog is adorable too, looking on to make sure the baby’s OK while he nurses.

But sometimes the image you project doesn’t match the way you feel. Holliday says for her, this blissful breastfeeding picture was anything but.

In an honest post, Holliday reveals she “was an emotional mess struggling to find [her] way as a new mom,” when the photo was taken last September.

“When I looked at this photo a wave of sadness poured over me,” she said. “But now I only see my tiny bubs nursing and Sweetie looking on like a nervous new mom.”

“Life is messy, love is complicated, and it can all feel so overwhelming but we grow and learn. I’m so grateful for my life & appreciate it all, even if I can’t always see the light at the end… it’s there.”
