This 'heavy duty' snow rake is handy for clearing snow off your roof — and you don't even need a ladder

According to Amazon shoppers, this heavy duty snow rake is "robust" and "effective."

A roof rake is being used to remove snow from a winter roof. Large amounts of snow are often removed, using this method, to prevent ice dams and reduce excess weight. Ice dams form when melted roof snow freezes at the gutter sometimes leading to damage to the roof edge.

Across much of Canada, the long weekend brought terrible weather, including heavy snow, extremely cold temperatures, and a messy mix of ice pellets and freezing rain in parts of Ontario and Quebec.

Environment Canada issued winter storm warnings for much of eastern Ontario and western Quebec. Toronto saw upwards of 25 centimetres of snow falling over the weekend, according to the city, while Montreal saw a record-breaking 70 centimetres fall over four days.

For winter-weary homeowners looking to dig themselves out of the snowy mess, this heavy-duty snow rake from Amazon Canada is a customer-favourite — and, no surprise, it's recently seen an increase in sales, landing it on Amazon's Movers and Shakers list.

After much of southern Canada was pummelled with snow, it's no wonder sales for this 20-foot long heavy duty roof rake have gone up.

Snowpeeler has come up with a way to easily remove excess snow from your roof without needing to climb or risk injury. This telescopic, adjustable snow rake extends up to 20-feet long, allowing users to remove snow from the roof of a house safely from the ground.

The rake is made from a "robust" commercial-grade aluminum blade which can cut through fresh and packed snow quickly. It's also equipped with braces to increase its strength, and protective glides to avoid damage to the rooftop. Given the snowy Canadian winter, more than 600 people have bought the "sturdy" and "well-designed" product in the last month.

🏅Shoppers say the snow rake is "built like a tank" and "assembles easily."

Reviewers who purchased this snow rake note it's "heavy duty" and "solid." One person notes it's an "amazing tool for clearing snow," while another said they were able to use this rake to clear snow from their roof themselves, rather than hiring someone.

According to the reviews, the telescopic tool assembles easily and gets the job done when it comes to DIY snow removal. "Worked like a charm," one reviewer said.

However, some reviewers note that the tool is "heavy like a tank" and at times "difficult to lift." One reviewer said getting the tool onto the roof is a workout, and advised not to use it in heavy winds. Some reviewers note it is easier to use on fresh snow, as compacted snow was trickier to remove.

Overall, Snowpeeler's Classic Roof Rake is a DIY solution to a snow-covered roof. Reviewers repeatedly noted it was well-made from a sturdy aluminum, easy to assemble, and it's less dangerous due to the fact that it saves homeowners from scaling potentially icy roofs. However, keep in mind that "heavy duty" is an apt way to describe it. Far from flimsy, some reviewers struggled to wrangle the 13 pound rake onto the roof.
