An Instagram post on Dunkin’ Donuts Egypt’s page left a bad taste in some people’s mouths.

The brand came under fire for posting this image of two donuts – one covered in white sugar and the other dipped in chocolate. The picture says “If darkness is half beauty, then whiteness is full beauty.”

Puzzlingly, the caption below it reads, “Because we are against racism, we will eat both of them, not only one. Which will you choose?”

Although the post has since been deleted, social media users were quick to spot and call out Dunkin’ Donuts on their controversial ad.

Some people saw otherwise and thought the ad was overblown:

And some left a little food for thought.

Dunkin’ Donuts has since removed the post and apologized, replying to tweets accusing the brand of being racist with a statement saying, “As soon as we became aware of the social media post by our Egyptian franchise, we asked for it to be removed. Our franchisee immediately complied. We apologize for the offence this posting cause.”
