We all saw it. "It" being a newly blonde Timothée Chalamet at the New York premiere of A Complete Unknown this weekend, stepping out in a look referencing the identical one Bob Dylan wore to a screening of Masked and Anonymous at Sundance Film Festival in 2003. Right down to the chunky highlights in his bangs, Chalamet was Dylanesque—the skinny jeans were on, the leather jacket was leather jacketing, and the pièce de résistance? That sky-blue, ribbed knit beanie—which happens to be a $5 find from Old Navy.
You know how people were showing up in green or pink to watch Wicked last month? Yeah, well I'll be showing up to AMC wearing my Old Navy beanie to watch A Complete Unknown come Christmas.

Leave the leather jackets and flannel shirts at home, folks. Forget about bringing along a checked scarf. Don't even think about donning a pair of Wayfarers. Real Dylan fans—the ones who, like Chalamet, are prepared and devoted enough to call upon even the nichest of references—will be spending less than ten bucks on their Dylan looks, sporting blue Old Navy beanies and calling it a day.
The beanie in question is currently half off (but if you miss the sale, don't panic; it's literally only $11 at full price) and comes in five other colors, too. Not really a dedicated Dylan fan, ready to commit to being a complete unknown? You probably still need a winter beanie regardless, and this one is packing in a cozy polyester knit with a ribbed brim, which, to be frank, you won't really find at this price elsewhere.
You don't have to spend $5,500 on Chalamet's leather car coat from Celine, and you don't have to invest in his cashmere scarf from Kinalba, either, to pay proper tribute. Keep it simple—keep it to the beanie. Although, if you do want to dye your hair '03 Bob Dylan blonde, be my guest.
