‘Today’ Fans Are Wondering When Jenna Bush Hager Is Returning from Maternity Leave
Maria Shriver is once again co-hosting Today with Hoda & Jenna this week as Jenna Bush Hager remains on maternity leave, and fans are speaking out about the undeniable chemistry between Shriver and Hoda Kotb.
On Tuesday, Shriver joined Kotb on Today to discuss meaningful friendships, and the Today with Hoda & Jenna Instagram account shared a photo of the two laughing during their set. The comments poured in from fans, many saying that Shriver deserves her own seat on the show alongside Kotb.
“Love these lovely, intelligent, fun ladies! They are sooo good together! More Maria Shriver please!!🎉🎊,” wrote one fan, while another commented, “Maria should have a permanent seat there! It just works so well, and it looks so effortless for these two ladies!”
“@mariashriver, you’re the best! While I have enjoyed most of the cohosts and certainly enjoy Jenna, I look forward to the days and weeks where you are cohosting most. You lead by example and your optimism is contagious. The life of service you have led is inspiring,” another person added.

But while some people were gushing over Shriver, others were begging Bush Hager to return to the show. “I like Maria Shriver but not constantly” one person wrote. Others flooded the comments with one simple question: “When is Jenna coming back???”
Bush Hager, who gave birth to Henry Harold “Hal” Hager in August, has been on maternity leave for two months, enjoying time with her family and attending baseball games—and she hasn’t commented on when she’ll return to the show. In addition to Shriver, Andy Cohen, Natalie Morales, and Meredith Vieira have stepped in to co-host alongside Kotb.
Kotb, who was also on maternity leave over the summer after welcoming her second daughter Hope Catherine via adoption, returned to Today in September, with Shriver and Natalie Morales as her guest co-hosts. She shared a cute Instagram pic of her return.

One genius fan thought of a solution: “Maybe I needs 3 seats. Hoda, Maria and Jenna. Your audience will learn valuable lessons from Maria. She speaks so intelligently with profound words that resonates with us all.” We’ll have to wait and see if Today is up for it.
