Mercato
Mercato offers a wide network of on-demand shoppers that'll pick up and deliver your groceries from a long list of stores. Simply enter your ZIP code to find available retailers, place your order, and wait as little as an hour for your food to arrive on your doorstep.
Their reach is more limited than Instacart, with service only available in 12 states. However, their expansive selection of local and artisanal stores is unmatched. Now you can enjoy freshly-baked sourdough, handmade pasta, and even specialty spices without even having to leave your house. You can sign up for free or enroll in a membership starting at eight dollars a month for free delivery.
Fresh Direct
Since first opening in 2002, Fresh Direct has become one of the most popular grocery-delivery services in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. They collaborate directly with farmers to source some of the freshest produce, dairy, meat, and seafood around. Every Thursday they offer up a new lineup of Fresh Deals, where you can order some of your favorite foods at steep discounts.
You can sign up free of charge and place orders with a minimum of $30 and select same-day or scheduled delivery for as little as $5.99. Alternatively, you can also sign up for Fresh Direct's DeliveryPass membership for unlimited free deliveries starting at $6.50 a month.
Shipt
Shipt is a relative newcomer to the grocery-delivery game. It first began in 2014, but expanded rapidly after being acquired by Target. It offers same-day grocery delivery in all 50 states from a variety of retailers—and not just grocery stores. Beyond getting your bulk items from Costco, you can also order alcohol from liquor stores, kitchen equipment from Sur La Table, and even restock your beauty supplies with Sephora.
Non-members pay a $10 flat fee for delivery without any hidden service charges. But if you're looking to save more, Shipt offers annual and monthly memberships so you can shop without paying those pesky delivery fees.
Amazon
The delivery giant offers two different options for grocery delivery. Both available for Prime members, Amazon Fresh and Whole Foods Market offer fast and easy grocery ordering—all in the Amazon app. Amazon Fresh offers beloved national brands and their own in-house products for same-day delivery.
Whole Foods Market, which Amazon acquired in 2017, offers the same perks as Amazon Fresh, but with the grocery store's signature products and a wide range of organic foods. Both services come with delivery fees that vary depending on the size of your order and your location.
Walmart+ InHome
Another major shopping giant to throw their hat into the grocery delivery ring is Walmart. Available exclusively to Walmart+ members, InHome is a game-changing service that takes all of the effort out of grocery shopping. For just an extra seven dollars a month or $40 a year, you can add on InHome to your existing Walmart+ membership.
What makes InHome so special? For one, you can select exactly where Walmart's delivery team should place your groceries. Stop & Shop
Stop & Shop has been selling high-quality groceries for over 100 years, and now you can enjoy their products without even stepping food in their brick-and-mortar stores. In 2020, they rebranded their original delivery service, Peapod, to Stop & Shop Delivery & Pickup. This service offers all the same perks of in-store shopping and more, from coupons, rewards programs, and even building your own shopping list in the app.
If you sign up for their membership program, GO Pass, you can get free delivery on orders over $100.
Thrive Market
You may have seen ads for Thrive Market pop up on your social media feeds, but what exactly is it?
