Trader Joe’s doesn’t lack for excellent holiday finds. From baking staples to sweet seasonal spreads, the grocer stocks the all things we need and more we didn't even know we needed. And that isn’t limited to edible items. This week, shoppers have been buzzing about the return of a particularly mysterious seasonal product: Trader Joe’s mystery bags.
Trader Joe’s Brings Back Mystery Bags
After a three-year break due to the pandemic, the mystery bags made a surprise comeback last holiday season. Now, a recent TikTok post has confirmed that these bags are back on shelves, ready to bring some fun to your next shopping trip.
Each mystery bag includes three reusable shopping bags, each featuring a different design. Given the name of the product, you shouldn’t be surprised to learn that you won’t know what designs your reusable bags feature until after you purchase them.
Trader Joe’s is known for its unique, geographically-inspired reusable shopping totes. The bags depict designs correlating to each Trader Joe’s store’s locale, or objects and landmarks associated with those specific places. However, these bags aren’t typically sold outside of the area the city- or state-specific bags represent. These mystery bags allow shoppers to get bags with designs that pay homage to cities and states nationwide.
Fans on social media were thrilled to see the mystery bags return. One commented, “OMG yay! I loved this last time! Last time we got Ohio, N.J. (where I live lol), and an orange chicken bag which one of the associates told us last year was rare? Not sure about that. but we will definitely be getting a new pack.” “Their graphic designers must have so much fun making these,” another commenter added.
The bags are available now, but only for a limited time. And given the number of social media videos we’ve seen of mystery bag reveals, they won’t last long in stores.
