Wait, So Are They Opening Bars In Target? Here Are The Facts

Could your next Target run become a lot boozier? According to internet rumors, yes. But according to facts, sadly no.

Across social media, rumors are running rampant about Target opening in-store bars that will serve a cocktails like a "Targarita."

The X account @MensHumor was one of the first to share the news, writing "My wife is never coming home."

Since being shared on November 8, the post has received hundreds of comments from those eager to get their hands on a Targarita.

"I can hear yall now 'let’s go pregame at target,'" one person commented.

"Your Target trips just got so much longer… and better!" another user added.

The idea of a cocktail bar at Target wouldn't be too far fetched given that several grocery stores, including Whole Foods and Kroger, have added bars to some locations. With that being said, will you soon be sipping on sangria while shopping for Stanleys? Sorry friends, but probably not.

The fact-checking website Snopes recently investigated the Target bar rumors and found no proof of them coming to any stores.

"There is no evidence that Target plans to add bars to any of its stores or offering its own branded cocktails. No credible news outlets have reported this claim, and Target has not made any such announcement," Snopes wrote in a post.

Additionally, the photo of the Targarita shared by @MensHumor was likely generated using AI. With help from the AI-detection platform Hive Moderation, Snopes uncovered that there was a 99.8% likelihood of GenAI.
