These two iconic Kendall malls are transforming. What shoppers will find there soon
The Falls and Dadeland are growing and getting face lifts.
The landmark Kendall-area malls announced the arrival of at least 10 new stores in coming months, according to marketing spokeswomen Lourdes Rodriguez of Simon and Isabelle Braun of Citizen Relations. Simon Property Group owns Dadeland, opened in 1962, and The Falls, opened in 1980.
Here’s what customers can expect and when:
Dadeland Mall
Dadeland has been active this summer with the arrival of five newcomers and the relocation of one old favorite. If the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics inspired you to pursue your sport, you’ll have places to pick up new equipment with two coming retail outlets.
Now open
▪ PAVOI opened in May as the jewelry and accessories retailer opened its first and only brick-and-mortar location at Dadeland near the Miami Heat store and Tous.
▪ Kendra Scott, a Texas-based jewelry designer, sells its designs nationwide in stores including Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom and Bloomingdale’s. A standalone store, near Saks Fifth Avenue and across from Zara, opened at Dadeland in May.
▪ Victoria’s Secret/PINK, known for its line of lingerie, was remodeled and relocated near Macy’s Home and Children in May.
▪ Ben’s Pizza is a pizzeria that serves by the slice. The restaurant was founded by father and son Eduardo and Erick Passo and named for Erick’s first born son Ben in March 2022. Ben’s Pizza opened in the dining pavilion near Kelly’s Cajun Grill and Shake Shack in June.
▪ TNS-USA, a clothing store that specializes in Colombian fashions, opened in the mall’s fashion wing near Express in July.
▪ Tommy Bahama relocated near Macy’s Fashion and Zales on Aug. 17.
Coming soon
▪ Dick’s House of Sport will be hard to miss at the east end of the mall in the former Nordstrom space as the giant standalone sports store will command attention next to the old J.C Penney. The 147,000-square-foot store will serve as its own mall entrance when it opens in November, according to Simon’s Dadeland website. All the usual departments — baseball, yoga, wrestling, running, swimming — will be there. Dick’s also will offer an interactive space “where you can find inspiration and practice your skills.” There is a smaller traditional Dick’s store about half a mile away across the street inside Dadeland Station.
▪ JD Sports carries sportswear and sneakers including Nike, Adidas, Jordan, Champion, Vans, The North Face and Pink Soda Sport. JD Sports will be near the food pavilion across from Popeye’s and will open in September.
▪ Islas Canarias Cuban Express, a Miami family-owned Cuban food eatery is opening in the food pavilion in September.
▪ Golden Goose, established by two young Venetian fashion designers in 2000, opens an outlet selling footwear and accessories. The store is scheduled to open in the fashion wing next to a new Gucci in early 2025.
▪ UDON’s traditional Asian recipes include noodle, rice, vegan and vegetarian dishes and Asian-inspired tapas. UDON is slated to open in the terrace dining space on the second floor of the fashion pavilion in early 2025.
The Falls
The Falls’ cosmetic upgrades including new lighting and handrails to make the 44-year-old destination feel more spry should be completed in the fall. The open-air center has nine new retailers. You may have seen three of them already — G by GUESS and LoveSac opened in July and Freddo Gelato opened in August.
