A Colorado pup has become the top dog in the world of ride-sharing!

Bowie the dog, known online as "the Uber Dog," has been winning over Uber passengers on college campuses and beyond for some time now. In 2024, the rescue dog's owner, Kevin Ferman, decided to film and upload clips of their rides together on social media, many of which have helped Bowie earn internet notoriety.

It all began in April 2024, when the Colorado native and Uber driver uploaded his first episode of "Bowie's Uber Vlog" to YouTube. The clip shows what happens when Ferman lets his pup sit in the front seat of his vehicle to surprise passengers.

Ferman, who has been transporting passengers for a decade, told Good Morning America that he started taking Bowie along for Uber rides shortly after he adopted the pup two and a half years ago.

"Colorado's such a dog-friendly place, so I knew people would like it," Ferman told NBC affiliate WTHR.

Bowie's first video, shared on April 28, begins with Ferman explaining to a camera that he wanted to give an "inside look of what this job entails." Since then, he's shared nearly 50 additional videos on YouTube, with the most-viewed clip earning over 880,000 views.

"The craziest thing happened," Ferman said of their initial April video. "It started getting tens of thousands of views overnight."

Ferman and Bowie's TikTok account — as of Thursday, Jan. 16 — has 140,000 followers. Their most popular clip on the platform, showing two men joking that the "girls go crazy" over Bowie, has surpassed 8 million views,

The pair's route often takes them near the University of Colorado Boulder campus, where WTHR notes that Bowie is a local celebrity.

As Ferman revealed in one clip, Bowie is a rescue puppy from Albuquerque. He welcomed the dog into the family when the pet was five months old. Soon, Ferman realized the pup had "pretty bad separation anxiety," so he began taking him on rides. He calls Bowie his "co-pilot" and describes the process as a good way to "socialize him and get him around people."

"If we're picking up from bars late at night, a typical reaction is like, 'Oh My God,'" Ferman told WTHR. "... Sometimes I wonder if he knows that he's kind of famous."

Other popular clips of Bowie feature passengers posing for photos with him in the backseat, shaking hands (or paws) with the pooch on Halloween, and asking about the canine's life story — and how he ended up in the front seat.

"It's such a simple thing, but it really does make people's day," Ferman said.
