My Unorthodox Life has returned for its second season on Netflix. And, if you weren’t aware…a lot has changed since the first season aired.

In the first season of the show, Julia Haart, a fashion designer who fled her Orthodox Jewish community in Monsey, New York, was married to Silvio Scaglia, the tech entrepreneur.

But some might say that things always had the potential to get messy between these two. In 2019, Julia began working as the CEO of Elite World Group, the modeling agency that Silvio became chairman of eight years prior.

Season 2 shows bits and pieces of their divorce proceedings. ICYMI, Julia was fired from being EWG’s CEO earlier this year—and the Netflix cameras were there to capture it all. In the midst of their divorce, many are wondering how they’ll split their assets. Which begs the question: What is Silvio’s net worth, anyway?

Ahead, find out how the tech entrepreneur made his money, including all of his jobs, and what Women’s Health knows about their divorce costs.

Silvio worked a few jobs in managing and consulting.

He started his career in the aerospace industry, per Bustle. From 1986 to 1989, he worked at McKinsey & Company, a consulting firm, before moving onto Bain & Company, another consulting firm, where he worked until 1991. He spent his next four years at Piaggio Group, a scooter and motorcycle manufacturer, before becoming their Senior Vice President and moving on to Omnitel, according to his LinkedIn.

He was the chief executive of Omnitel.

Now known as Vodafone Italy, it’s a telecommunications company providing consumers wifii and television services, according to their website. He was the chief executive from 1995 to 1999, according to Forbes and his LinkedIn.

Silvio founded Fastweb in 1999.

Originally called e.Biscom, it merged with another company and became Fastweb, per Bustle. Fastweb is a broadband telecom company delivering Internet, TV, and voice services, according to Forbes. By the time the company, which he formed with financier Francesco Micheli, went public in 2000, it had a 10 billion-euro valuation, Bustle reports. The company was sold for $4 billion to Swisscom in 2007.

After it sold, he built Babelgum, a TV platform similar to YouTube, which liquidated in 2012, The Cinemaholic wrote. Before he joined EWG, where he is today, he was a chairman at La Perla, the fashion company for four years, then worked at Yewno, Inc., an artificial intelligence company, for another six, per LinkedIn.

He was acquitted of tax fraud.

Silvio was arrested in Italy in 2010 for suspected tax evasion, Reuters reported. Authorities there claimed that more than 2 billion euros (or $2.73 billion dollars) were laundered through fake international phone service purchases and sales.

Prosecutors sought 56 people in connection with the case. Fastweb and Telecom Italia unit Sparkle were drawn into the scandal and denied wrongdoing, per Reuters.

Silvio maintained that he was innocent, Forbes stated, and was released in February 2011.

He was acquitted of the charges in 2013, per Reuters. And again in 2017, according to The Cinemaholic.

Now, Silvio works multiple jobs.

Silvio eventually acquired EWG and became chairman in 2010, where he still works today, per The Cinemaholic. He also founded SHS Asset Management in September 2020 and he’s also held the position of CEO for the past two years, according to his LinkedIn.

And his impending divorce might cost him.

Julia filed for divorce back in February 2022. And in the midst of the proceedings, she found out she was fired from being CEO of EWG, according to Us Weekly. She filed a lawsuit later in the month, claiming she was a co-owner of EWG, which she said Silvio named her as after they got married. The judge ruled against her.

In July, she filed a lawsuit to sue Silvio for $257 million, accusing him of cheating her out of earnings from EWG, per PEOPLE. However, Silvio’s lawyer, Lanny J. Davis, countered by stating that her claims of owning half of the company were rejected by the court.

What is Silvio Scaglia’s net worth?

Silvio is still a billionaire. Forbes estimated his net worth to be $1 billion in 2010, and most outlets, such as The Cinemaholic, believe it’s stayed around that range, due to his work—but there aren’t a ton of reputable estimates out there.

That’s almost twice what his soon to be ex-wife is worth—a source close to Julia told Women’s Health in 2021 that her net worth is $600 million.
