Valerie Bertinelli Is a Proud Mom While Gushing About Her Son's 2024 Oscars Nomination
The 2024 Oscars have come and gone, but Valerie Bertinelli will never stop gushing about her family's monumental accomplishments.
The Food Network star was on hand for the annual ceremony on March 10, where she walked the red carpet with son Wolfgang Van Halen and his wife Andraia Allsop. Valerie's musician son attended as a Best Original Song nominee for his work on "I'm Just Ken"from Barbie. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight about the track, Valerie couldn't help but sing Wolfgang's praises for his contribution on guitar.
"I mean, people are going to get sick of it, but I don't care because I'm so proud of him," she told the outlet ahead of the star-studded ceremony. "He's been through a lot of adversity throughout all of this, and I'm really proud of the way he's handled it."
That wasn't all she had to say about her son (whom she shares with her late ex-husband Eddie Van Halen)'s work on Barbie. As she explained to the publication, there are specific scenes where if viewers listen to the music, they'll hear Wolfgang doing his thing on the guitar.
"When you watch the movie — here, I'm gonna brag — during the Ken fight scene, that's all Wolfie," she said. "And then during the car chase scene, that's all Wolfie."
When fans saw the pride the Hot in Cleveland star had for her son, they rushed to the comments to share their own moments of happiness for them.
"Oh man... Valerie is such a doll, beautiful as ever. I know she is proud of her son ❤️❤️❤️," one person declared on YouTube. "Really happy for Wolfgang and especially Val. She deserves happiness coming her way. Nothing makes a mom happier than when their child succeeds," another wrote. "Omgosh!!! Go mama Bertinelli!! So great to know Wolfie is playing in Barbie!!! Wow!!" a different viewer added.
Wolfgang joined Ryan Gosling and surprise guest Slash from Guns N' Roses for an incredible live performance of the song on the Oscars stage. While "I'm Just Ken" ultimately did not take home this year's Academy Award for Best Original Song, Barbie still scored in the category. Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas O'Connell won the trophy for their emotional track, "What Was I Made For?".
Fans may not know Wolfgang has performed with his father's band Van Halen, both before and after his dad's passing. Wolfgang is currently the frontman for the band Mammoth WVH, and will be heading back on the road for part 2 of the Mammoth II Tour in May.
