Vanity Fair celebrates 75 years of the best-dressed

In 1940, Eleanor Lambert, the press director of the Whitney Museum of American Art founded the International Best-Dressed list. A fashion icon in her own right, the Indiana-native also helped found the Museum of Modern Art, the Coty Fashion Critics’ Award and New York Fashion Week. She would later organize the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), remaining an honorary member until her death in 2003.

Today, Vanity Fair is in charge of the list and recently announced this year’s list of inductees, which included Taylor Swift, Prince Harry, FKA Twigs and Fan Bingbing.

Above we look at some of the Best Dressed List hall of fame, those who regularly appeared on the list and are considered some of the most stylish people of all time.
