'Wheel of Fortune''s Vanna White Finally Got a Raise
Previous reports stated that she hadn't gotten a pay increase in nearly two decades.
Wheel of Fortune fans can breathe a sigh of relief. Vanna White, the show's longtime co-host, signed a new two-year contract, according to Page Six and TMZ — and she managed to get a raise, too. Prior to the news breaking today, reports had been circulating that White hadn't received any sort of raise for more than 18 years. The revelation surfaced after host Pat Sajak announced that he was leaving his post at the beloved game show and that Ryan Seacrest would be taking his place. Sajak reportedly made $15 million per season.
Page Six notes that rumors claimed White made half of what her co-host made. The two started working together in 1982. White's lawyer, Bryan Freedman, was in "very difficult negotiations" with Sony, the show's producer, to secure White her "substantial pay increase." She currently makes $3 million per season and details of her new contract haven't been shared just yet. Seacrest will reportedly make $28 million per season, giving him the distinction of being the highest-paid TV host currently on air.

Freedman was also rumored to be floating the idea of "filing a gender discrimination lawsuit against Sony," according to Page Six. TMZ adds that the show opens every episode with an announcer saying, "Here are the stars of our show, Pat Sajak and Vanna White," which would have audiences believing that the two are of equal value to the show and its viewership, which is clearly not the case when it comes to financials.
Season 41 of Wheel started filming last week. It marks the beginning of the end of Sajak's final season with the show.
