‘We’ve had a good rush at the door’: Here is what we saw at Art Miami’s opening day

Art Miami and its sister fairs Context and Aqua Art Miami are featuring over 300 galleries from 24 countries representing about 1,200 artists. Dealers have saved “their best” for Art Miami and collectors and interior designers seem more eager to make purchases post-election, said Nick Korniloff, director of Art Miami / CONTEXT. Global politics, big presidential elections and high interest rates affect lending and buyers’ decision-making.
“We’re post elections, so everybody knows the direction that the country is going in and the policies that are being potentially adapted, and they could plan their future,” said Korniloff.
And there’s certainly a sense of optimism in the air this week, especially after a noticeably dreary few years for the global art market.
“We’ve had a good rush at the door,” he said.
