The Viral Dubai Chocolate Bar Is Getting a Milkshake Spinoff
This limited-edition offering is tapping into an international dessert craze, as it gives the cult-favorite chocolate bar a fast-casual makeover.

Chances are you’ve encountered the decadent Dubai chocolate bar during your nightly social media scroll. Although the original bar made by Fix Dessert Chocolatier is unfortunately not available in the United States, you have several options — such as the Lindt and Rifai versions. Now, you also have the opportunity to experience it in liquid form.
Shake Shack is introducing a Chocolate Pistachio Dubai Shake at 30 locations across the United States, a brand representative tells Food & Wine. This chocolatey milkshake, inspired by a crunchy pistachio treat from Dubai, lands on menus in Miami, Los Angeles, and New York City today. You should act quickly, though, because it’s only sticking around for a limited time.
As the fast-casual chain describes it, its latest milkshake is a reimagined version of the much-ballyhooed dessert. The signature shredded dough offers the “perfect textural crunch” and starts at $8 each, according to a spokesperson.

“Our goal was to pay homage to the Dubai chocolate bar and turn it into a delicious shake,” John Karangis, Shake Shack’s executive chef and vice president of culinary innovation, tells Food & Wine. “Every element was crafted to capture the bar’s signature layers and textures while staying true to the Shake Shack experience. We hope our fans are as excited about it as we are.”
That all comes together in one nutty, creamy treat: Vanilla frozen custard is blended with rich, 100% pistachio paste and toasted kataifi (shredded phyllo dough), then topped with chopped pistachios and flakes of toasted kataifi. The interior of the cup is also slathered with thick dark chocolate sauce that hardens into a crackable shell. It’s a moment perfectly primed for your Instagram story if you’re anything like us.
As for the brains behind it, Shake Shack says its team began developing this frozen treat after the company’s international group noticed the Dubai Chocolate Bar’s popularity in the Middle East. It was added to menus in the region on February 10 and quickly gained traction on social media. Recently, Shake Shack’s official account teased the new, chocolatey milkshake for Western audiences.
We bet you’ve spotted these extravagant, vivid green treats on TikTok or Instagram reels — specifically, as cracked chocolate bars oozing with thick pistachio cream and bits of toasted kataifi. These sweet, crunchy pieces (made from shredded phyllo pastry) are common in Middle Eastern desserts and add a unique texture to the shake. While the chocolate bars were once few and far between, you can now find them at specialty candy shops in the United States.
Sounds like the perfect way to shake up your next dessert run.
