Volcanic Eruption Continues on Western Side of Kilauea's Halemaumau Crater

Lava spewed from the Halemaumau crater of the Kilauea volcano on Saturday, June 10, as Hawaii Volcanoes National Park said lava fountains reached heights of around 30 feet.

Footage recorded on Saturday shows a fissure on the southwest wall of Halemaumau crater forming a cone as lava spews into the air.

Hawaii Volcanoes National Park said that active lava and vents continued on the western side of the Halemaumau crater on Sunday, with activity on the eastern side largely stagnant. Credit: Hawaii Volcanoes National Park/J Wei via Storyful
