Walmart Just Announced a Major Store Change That Has Shoppers So Excited
Walmart opened in 1951 in Bentonville, Arkansas. In the last few decades, the corporation has since expanded to over 4,000 locations across the United States. Now the megastore is announcing another transition: A new brand identity to match its ever-evolving future.
On January 13, 2025, Walmart announced its plans to update its brand identity. So if you start to see some changes the next time you shop at Walmart, just know it’s part of a broader goal to transform the look of the chain.
“Walmart aims to be an inspirational, digital retailer that provides all the products, brands, and services our customers need and want,” William White, the senior vice president and chief marketing officer at Walmart U.S., said in a press release. “This update, rooted in the legacy of our founder, Sam Walton, demonstrates our evolving capabilities and longstanding commitment to serve our customers of today and tomorrow.”
Walmart’s rebrand will include a new customized font that connects more with its customers, an update to its classic True Blue and Spark Yellow color palette, and a refresh to its tone to make it more relatable, approachable, and representative of its customers.
If you’re a Walmart superfan, you might have seen this coming. Earlier this year, the company shared a post on Instagram outlining its predictions for 2025. One of those predictions was that “Walmart blue” would become a popular color this year.
In response to Walmart’s 2025 predictions, one shopper wrote, “Walmart blue Pantone color of the year, it’s gonna happen!”
For now, Walmart’s rebrand is underway. In October 2024, the corporation began rolling out this new brand identity in one of its locations in Springdale, Arkansas. Over time, shoppers can expect to see more stores get this refresh, and the company will overhaul the website and app in January 2025.
“While the look and feel of our brand is more contemporary, our refreshed brand identity reflects Walmart’s enduring commitment to both Sam’s principles and serving our customers however they need us,” says White. “As our customers evolve, we will too. Our Walmart will always be their Walmart, and our brand will always be a testament to how we innovate and change alongside them.”
