Stand mixers often fall into the category of aspirational, rather than affordable, but Amazon’s Big Spring Sale is truly treating us. GE’s stand mixer is half-price, meaning you can enjoy using one of the best for just $150.

I’m Homes & Gardens’ eCommerce editor, which means I spend my days testing and reviewing stand mixers and other small appliances. I've been scouring Amazon's sales looking for deals on our favorite home appliances and when I saw this I just couldn't wait to share the details. I've included some more good stand mixer deals at the bottom of the article too. You can't say we don't treat you.

I love GE's stand mixer for covering the all the basics of baking without breaking a sweat. Our experts reckon it's one of the best stand mixers on the market; it whips cream, mixes batters, and kneads dough like the best of them. You'll be spending at least three times the price before you find a better stand mixer.

Is the GE stand mixer any good?

The GE boats some impressive credentials. It's well-built, versatile, and reliable, competing with some of the best stand mixers on the market. The seven-speed settings and simple controls are easy enough for beginners. The GE even has a soft start setting (so that you don't spray clouds of flour into the air when you turn the machine on) and an auto-locking head which means you'll have both hands free to scrape, stir, and add ingredients when needed.

The sleek design looks modern. If you read the reviews, you'll see that everyone is surprised by the weighty, durable feel of the stand mixer. GE includes the essential accessories: a whisk, dough hook, flat beater, and pouring shield. It's powerful enough to whip up egg whites, mix sausage meat, and knead dough. Even better, the GE is compatible with all of KitchenAid's best attachments. If you've been eyeing up their incredible ice cream maker (which is reduced by $20 at Amazon) or meat grinder (also reduced at Amazon) you won't have to miss out.

For those who are feeling ambitious and tackling a tough project, the GE can get pretty noisy. If your kitchen is a social space, choose your baking times carefully. Whilst the exterior wipes clean, the accessories are hand-wash only, so you'll need to be more involved in the cleanup. The rule in my house is, that the cook (or baker) never cleans. If you'll be the one using the GE, I recommend implementing this. to save yourself some time.

The GE is a brilliant buy if you're on a budget. You'll have spent $150 to have access to a stand mixer which delivers results which are at least worth $300, if not more. Sure, it's not the iconic, colorful KitchenAid, but you'll need to quadruple your budget to pick up one of those.

The GE isn't the only discounted stand mixer, there are plenty of other options. None are quite as cheap as this one, but you can pick up a discounted KitchenAid, save $300 on a professional Wolf model, or nab a Hamilton Beach model for $75.

If $150 still wasn't low enough for you, Hamilton Beach's stand mixer can go cheaper. It doesn't take an expert to tell you that $75 is a steal. It's not very powerful or durable, but covers the basics pretty well.

A $50 discount isn't huge, but if you have your heart set on a KitchenAid, this is a great one to shop. It's technically faultless, perfect for whipping cream and mixing batters. You'll have to buy it in Empire Red to snag the savings though.

Wolf Gourmet Mixer

This is far from a budget option, but a saving of nearly $300 isn't one to skip over. Wolf's stand mixer delivers professional results (our experts think it's even better than a KitchenAid at kneading dough).
