Want to lose weight? New study claims these are the foods you should be eating

While most dieting studies tend to focus on eliminating food groups, researchers from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston decided to look into which foods will actually help you lose weight.

Taking a cue from the 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans (which recommends that a diet rich in fruit and vegetables “can help adults and children achieve and maintain a healthy weight”), the study looked at exactly which fruits and vegetables fared best when it came to weight loss. Analyzing the diet and weight change of 133,648 American men and women they determined that fruit actually came out on top, contrary to popular beliefs.

“Eating more fruit was actually greater for weight loss,” claims the study. All-star fruits included berries, apples and pears. Unsurprisingly, starchy vegetables like corn, peas, and potatoes actually led to weight gain – sigh.
