Watch Argentina's happiest bus driver make his passengers’ day
Bus driver Rogelio Lopez is on a lifelong goodwill mission.
The 56-year-old, whose daily route takes him through some of the meaner streets of Buenos Aires, is renowned as the happiest bus driver in Argentina.
He joined the capital’s bus service in 1990, encouraged by his brother, who was already a bus driver. The job became his calling, and as a relentlessly upbeat people person, he’s dedicated to sharing kindness and positivity with all his passengers.
“When I sit down here, I don’t exist anymore,” says Lopez. “Only people exist. It is my duty to treat each person who gets on my bus with dignity and kindness. For this reason, when they get on, I welcome them warmly, which is good for everybody.”
Lopez, who’s even been known to announce stops in song, has amassed a large following on social media, where passengers/fans can see videos and photos of his bus route and the people he meets on his travels.
