A couple got married on Valentine's Day in a Las Vegas wedding with a Whataburger twist.

Whataburger superfans Haley McCollough, 25, and Michael White, 30, eat at the fast food restaurant "at least once a week," so when they each got a notification on their Whataburger apps that the chain was hosting a contest in late December 2024 for the chance to win a Whataburger wedding on the Las Vegas Strip, it was an easy decision to apply.

"It sounded perfect," McCollough exclusively tells PEOPLE.

The Texas-based couple created a 30-to-45-second video sharing how Whataburger became a part of their love story. When they got the call that they won, White was "so surprised" and his "heart started beating so fast." Meanwhile, McCollough was "happy and excited" and "relieved" wedding planning was over.

"It was literally the perfect opportunity and thinking about finding a time to get married was starting to get stressful," McCollough recalls. "When we told everybody, they all responded with excitement and a comment along the lines of, 'Yea, that makes sense for y’all.' People were very excited for us, because it really is an amazing opportunity."

The "Whatawedding" on Feb. 14 at Whataburger’s two-story Las Vegas Strip location featured Vegas performers, a vintage car, photo booth, caricaturist and more. McCollough walked down an orange aisle before exchanging wedding rings that were presented on a fast food tray.

After saying "I do," the newlyweds sliced into a custom three-tiered, orange-striped Whataburger cake. The dinner menu included a bacon steakhouse double, fries, and red velvet shakes.

"I never imagined that we would have a Whataburger wedding," says McCollough, who flew on a plane for the first time to attend her Nevada nuptials.

"Never in a million years!" White adds. "But once I saw it as a possibility, I didn’t want anything else."

Whataburger not only holds a special place in the couple's hearts because they grew up eating the burgers and fries, but also because their relationship began over a meal at the restaurant for their first date in October 2019.

"Whataburger was the closest restaurant to where we worked together, so we would often go there to eat. Usually we would go through the drive-thru — he would get his triple and I would get my Monterey Melt," McCollough says. "We would sit in the parking lot and talk for hours."

"I remember Haley was very nervous on our first date and ate very slowly around me, but she saw how fast I eat pretty quickly!" White tells PEOPLE.

Four years later in October 2023, the duo got engaged — in the bathroom.

"I had a thing prepared to do at a restaurant and the short version is there was a sequence of events that just continued to ruin it at every turn," White explains. "After it didn’t work out at the restaurant Haley made some comments that led me to believe she knew everything so I decided there was only one way this would still be a surprise… so I walked in on her in the restroom (she had just finished)."

The pair — who share a 1-year-old son— later took their engagement photos at Whataburger, which McCollough's phone humorously listed as "home" due to their frequent visits together.

"I feel like a traditional engagement photoshoot would be a little cheesy for us," says McCollough. "We aren’t the most comfortable in front of a camera, so I always joked, 'If we were to do an engagement photoshoot, we would have to do it at Whataburger.' "

The first Whatawedding took place in 2019 when six couples were married on Valentine’s Day at Whataburgers across the country. Most recently, MLB star Bobby Witt Jr. had a Whatawedding of his own in December 2024. This year’s first Las Vegas edition builds upon Whataburger’s efforts to be a people-first brand while celebrating one of the most special days of couples’ lives.

"Whataburger has been a part of so many moments of my life, big and small," White says. "[It was] the strangest, yet most fitting version of our most special day."
