Whatcom Roundup: New restaurant in Bellis Fair; Simmering Tava returns; The Portal closes

New restaurant coming to Bellis Fair mall

A new restaurant is coming to Bellis Fair mall’s food court, according to David Prince, the mall’s general manager. Since Rock n’ Roll Sushi closed in August, Seoul Kitchen will now open in its spot. The Korean BBQ restaurant plans to open in November, or December at the latest, according to Prince.

Bellis Fair mall is at 1 Bellis Fair Parkway in Bellingham.

The Portal closing for the season

The Portal Container Village, one of Bellingham’s most popular and busy summer hangout spots, is closing for the winter season.

All of The Portal’s tenants, including Kulshan Brewing Co., Our Kitchen, Zeek’s Pizza, Selkie Scoop and the other shipping container businesses will be closing Sunday, Nov. 3.

No opening date for The Portal’s 2025 season has been announced.

Simmering Tava teases return

Simmering Tava, a food truck serving “homestyle, artisan, local and organic Indian food” that closed in 2022 has teased its return to Bellingham in a Facebook post.

No additional reopening information has been shared.
