‘The White Lotus’ Season 4: Where Are We Flying Next?
There may have been grumbles about the slow pace of The White Lotus's third season. Some even believe that the show has run its course. Us? We're still entertained, and it’s still doing big numbers for HBO Max and Sky. In fact, it’s been the most popular run so far, averaging 12.2 million viewers per episode – a 78% increase from the performance of series two in the same timeframe.
The broadcaster commissioned a fourth series in January 2025, and the speculation has started already. We’ve gone from Hawaii, to Italy, to Thailand (not Taiwan, Victoria Ratliff), so it’s anyone’s guess where creator Mike White might stage his next murder mystery. It will almost certainly be at a luxury resort for deluded millionaires, but here’s everything we know so far:
Potential Release Date
Only 15 months separated TWL series one (July 2021) and two (October 2022). But then there was a gap of two years and four months, due to the writers’ strikes. Mike White is a fast worker, so perhaps the earliest we’d see it is mid-2026.
There’s still one episode left of season 3, so we’ll known then if Greg (John Gries) is actually the series regular and makes it out alive to season 4. Other than that, it’s all purely speculation. How about Javier Bardem? Kim Cattrall? Nathan Fielder? Stephen Graham? Zendaya? Idris Elba? Josh O’Connor? Place your bets now, please.
Holiday plans?
Where in the world are we going next? Well, it’s not going to be somewhere you need a Puffa jacket and boots, says The White Lotus executive producer David Bernad. Bernad explained on The Bill Simmons Podcast that there’s never going to be a snow season: “Mike [White] does not like the cold, that is why we will never do it. I feel confident we will never do a season in the cold… Mike White is not for it. He is a California guy. He is not built for the cold.”
The series kind of suits an incredibly hot clime, as you watch the one-percenters sweat over their terrible choices. Since we’ve already had series in America, Europe and Asia, perhaps the next stop might be a new continent; Australasia – maybe the Gold Coast, or Bali? – or Africa – Marrakesh perhaps, or Cape Town, or a resort in Egypt?
Going down under has been on White’s radar. Speaking at Sydney’s Vivid festival in 2023 (as per Yahoo! news) he said: “My dream would be to hit every continent, so yeah, this is like its own continent basically,” he said. “We kind of have to come to Australia if we keep going. It would be so fun. Obviously, there’s a huge wealth of talent here and the beauty is inarguable, so it feels like it checks all the boxes.”
Has anyone checked if The Four Seasons Bondi Beach is available for two to four months next year?
