Why Eva Mendes Isn’t With Ryan Gosling at the 2024 Golden Globes
Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling haven’t done a red carpet together in years—and tonight was no exception. Mendes did not attend the 2024 Golden Globes with Gosling, who received a Best Supporting Actor, Motion Picture nomination for his work as Ken in Barbie. He arrived at the ceremony solo:
Mendes spoke last year about why she doesn’t attend red carpet events with her longtime partner. A fan had commented on her Instagram that featured footage of them in 2011’s The Place Beyond the Pines. She had captioned the post, “Magic is Real. We did not meet on set. The magic started way before, but here’s a little magic captured on camera.”
The fan wrote, “Eva, I want to be honest w u, but I hope Barbie will get through the Awards Season just to see you w Ryan. I know I’m selfish and probably a dreamer, but I will never stop to dream about it!!”
Mendes responded, “You’re the best! What a cool comment; thank you. But we don’t do those things together...Like these photos I’ve been posting, I’m only comfortable posting because it’s already out there.” She added, “Oh wait -for those who may catch me in a ‘lie‘ -we only were on the red carpet together once when promoting this film.”
Mendes has been supportive of Gosling on Instagram though, even sharing his “I’m Just Ken” holiday remix music video. “My Man and @iammarkronson making this so F good it’s not even funny anymore. 🖤,” she captioned one clip.
She added in another, “So grateful to @iammarkronson for getting my man to make more music. Dead Man’s Bones is my favorite band ….when I first heard Ryan sing, MY HEART EXPLODED. More Ryan & Ronson musica por favor! ♥️”
