For the lovers of all things supernatural, dark and thrilling, director Steven Soderbergh's latest thriller drama is set to leave you feeling deeply unsettled as he takes on an eerie twist to the traditional ghost-haunting-a-house genre.
The film first premiered at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival and was applauded for its clever storytelling, which takes viewers through the film from the point of view of a ghost rather than a living person and explores deeper themes of horrors deriving from the relationships and structures around us. What Is The Plot Of Presence?
As per the official logline of Presence, 'A family moves into a suburban house and becomes convinced they are not alone.'
Rebekah (Lucy Liu) and Chris Payne (Chris Sullivan) navigate parenting their two teens while going through a number of issues in the family. They then decide to relocate to a new home, in hopes of a fresh start, but soon discover that their new life is set with a whole host of new and old challenges. Their daughter, Chloe (Callina Liang), is struggling with the loss of a close friend, while their son, Ty (Eddy Maday), battles a volatile temper.
But, before long, they realise that it's not just family tensions that threaten their peace - there's an eerie, unexplained force in the house, which they call the 'presence,' that unravels the fragile sense of stability between the family.

The cast of Presence includes Julia Fox, who stars as Cece, the family's real estate agent that shows them a house in a good school district. Previously, Fox has worked Soderbergh before, on the 2021 film, No Sudden Move. The internet personality is also set to feature in the upcoming films The Trainer, Him and Night Always Comes.
Lucy Liu stars as Rebecca, the mother of the family. The actor is best known for her roles in Charlie's Angels, Kill Bill, Payback, Shanghai Noon, Lucky Number Slevin and Watching The Detectives.
