Why Selena Gomez’s Boyfriend, Benny Blanco, Isn’t With Her at the 2024 Golden Globes
Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco had their first public date this week at a Los Angeles Lakers game, but they aren’t going red carpet official yet. Gomez arrived to the Golden Globes Awards tonight on her own, in a dazzling Armani Privé dress.
It’s likely the couple opted to skip their red carpet debut this evening so the focus remains on Gomez’s career. Gomez is nominated for Best Actress in a TV Series, Musical or Comedy, for her work in Only Murders in the Building. If she wins tonight, it will be her first Golden Globe.
It’s also possible Blanco could sneak into the ceremony later, or attend an after party with Gomez. We’ll just have to wait and see.
Gomez went public with her and Blanco’s relationship last month. She revealed on Instagram that the couple had been privately dating for half a year. A source told Entertainment Tonight at the time that they had recently become more serious. “Selena and Benny have been casually seeing each other for a while and more recently, it became more official,” the source said on December 7. “Things have been going really well between them and Selena is happy. She thinks Benny is very funny and of course, extremely talented. Selena is in a great place in her life and feels content and relaxed. She is enjoying where things are going.”
Another Entertainment Tonight source discussed why their dynamic works so well on December 15. “She feels so safe and secure with him, so she felt like it was a good time to share how happy she is with her fans,” that insider said. “Benny is a great communicator, is honest and open with Selena, and listens to her. He’s respectful, isn’t a player, and not in it for the attention or fame. He doesn’t care about any of that, and Selena sees that and really trusts him."
