Last night at Cipriani Wall Street, the nonprofit organization Hispanic Star held its fourth annual Gala, celebrating leaders who have worked to champion the Latinx community in the United States. Honorees for the evening were Martin Cabrera, CEO & founder of Cabrera Capital; NBCUniversal’s Cesar Conde; and journalist Maria Hinojosa. Rosie Casals, the founder and president of Sportswomen, Inc., was also honored alongside tennis legend Billie Jean King for their work to increase diversity in sports. “This evening, in the words of my friend Billie Jean, let’s show up, let’s stand up, and let’s speak out,” Casals said. “Vamos!”

Hispanic Star is an advocacy-driven platform and an arm of the We Are All Human Foundation, which is focused on supporting and uplifting Latin voices in the U.S. “We will not stop until Latinos are recognized as a vital force driving our country’s growth and prosperity—a world where the Latino narrative shines,” Claudia Romo Edelman, founder and CEO of the We Are All Human Foundation, said in a speech. “This night was a testament to the power of our unified voices.”

Singer Gusi performed to the crowd, and Jacqueline Towers-Perkins served as the auctioneer. The event surpassed its fundraising goals, and a silent auction will continue throughout the month online.

Co-chairs for the event were ELLE editor-in-chief Nina Garcia; SVP of global brand and consumer marketing for the NFL, Marissa Solis; chairman of Advertising Week, Matt Scheckner; founder and CEO of Remezcla, Andrew Herrera; and CEO and president of PetMeds and PetCareRx, Sandra Campos. Attendees included designer Willy Chavarria, producer Emilio Estefan, actress Gina Brillon, and more.

“As Latinos, we have every reason to hold our heads high, to celebrate our hard work, our journeys, our accomplishments, and how the growth of our community is driving prosperity for the whole country,” Cabrera said. “It’s time to claim the place we’ve earned through grit, resilience, and determination.”
