Winner of HGTV's Urban Oasis Home Shocked to Receive House in Town She Already Lives In: WATCH (Exclusive)

HGTV's 2024 Urban Oasis home giveaway was unlike any other the network has done!

PEOPLE can exclusively reveal that 28-year-old Anna Bublitz has won the keys to the Scandinavian modern-style abode located in Kansas City, Mo. The designer of the home, HGTV’s own Carmeon Hamilton, explains how Anna’s situation is a first for HGTV's Urban Oasis sweepstakes.

She’s the “first-ever hometown resident” to win a newly-design property from the network, says Hamilton.

“I am here to surprise the winner of HGTV Urban Oasis 2024,” Hamilton says in the video above. “And guess where she lives? Right here in Kansas City. I am not even kidding. This has never happened before so you know we have planned something epic for this surprise.”

For the big reveal, Hamilton got in touch with Bublitz’s best friend Aubree to make her believe they’re going out to brunch. Instead, Aubree brings her directly to the property, where Hamilton also arranged for Bublitz’s family to surprise her.

As the pair drive up to the house, Bublitz realizes what’s going on and says, “Did I win? Did I win? Aubree, you’re kidding. You’re kidding!”

Hamilton is waiting outside to greet them, and later tells a shocked Bublitz, “You are the winner of HGTV Urban Oasis 2024.” The designer adds that in addition to the fully-furnished home, Bublitz has also won $50,000, making the entire prize package valued at over $700,000.

Almost in tears, Bublitz, who works at a marketing agency, then gives Hamilton a big hug before the group enters the home for a tour.

When Bublitz sees her family waiting for her inside, that’s when she breaks down crying and grabs a tissue from her mom.

Once they explore the entire property, Bublitz then calls her husband Jake, who is out of town, to tell him the exciting news.

After giving him some time to soak it all in, Hamilton asks Jake, “I heard you got put to work in registering [for the sweepstakes]," and he admits it's true: “Yes, It was a daily reminder of, ‘Make sure you enter!’”

Anna's name was randomly drawn from “millions of entries” after she and Jack entered to win twice daily during the sweepstakes period in the fall of 2024, according to an HGTV press release.

The couple are excited to call the newly-renovated 1939 property their new home. It features three bedrooms, two-and-a-half bathrooms and is spread out across 2,200 square feet of space. The home's modern interior is mixed with funky design elements that draw inspiration from the area's rich culture and history.
