A winter storm blasted Ontario and Quebec with rain, freezing rain, heavy snow, winds and ice pellets, with officials calling it an 'off the charts' system of 'weather bomb' proportions.
VIA Rail has now cancelled all traines between Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal for Christmas. Passengers between Ontario and Quebec had been stranded for up to 18 hours, some without food and water. VIA Rail worked to keep passengers 'as comfortable as possible', but Minister of Transportation, Omar Alghabra expressed that the situation was' unacceptable'
