I Wore These Sneakers All Over the 2024 Paris Olympics, and It Was The Best Decision Ever

When I learned I was going to the 2024 Paris Olympics, my thoughts immediately went to witnessing Simone Biles in action, the iconic Opening Ceremony, and getting to lay eyes on the masterful Eiffel Tower beach volleyball stadium. Then, I remembered that I actually had to pack for the four days I would spend on the ground, running from game to game, team house to team house. Luckily, I had some foresight because my feet were blister-free and happy to take on the miles of walking.

Due to the high level of security it takes to ensure the best athletes in the world are protected, most of Paris was blocked off during the Olympic Games. That’s the reason I only called an Uber from the airport to my hotel. Everything else I took my foot or train – and my shoes did not disappoint.

The Olympic Games are one of the most confusing things to dress for (while I dreamed of this moment, the logistics of being a journalist on the ground in the rain was not top of mind when trying to mindfully pack only one carry-on suitcase). I wanted to wear something that felt stylish and showed my personality, but something that was also comfortable and could withstand the varying weathers I was going to meet in Paris. From super sunny, high-temperature days to cloudy, rainy, freezing nights, I saw just about everything while there.

Even if you won't find yourself running around the Olympics this year, my time there felt like the ultimate test of my wardrobe. And so, ahead, here's everything I wore (and how it all held up).

Day 1

My first look was one of comfort and color. I was spending four hours on a red carpet for the Prelude to the Olympics party that Vogue was hosting. I knew I would be on my feet for some time so that is how I first got started. The attire for media was business casual, and while I don’t necessarily think this falls into that, it was the closest thing I’d packed.

What I wasn’t prepared for, though, was the hour it rained while we waited on the uncovered area of the carpet (that was actually a green track). Sadly, the dress I am wearing from Eloquii is a year old and does not exist on their website anymore, but the Remi Bader x Revolve collaboration below has a lot of the same vibes. The shoes are Nike and got me through a long walk from the street to the venue because of the event's strict barricades.

Day 2

On the morning of the Opening Ceremony, I took a stroll around town for a few hours just to get the vibes of the city on one of the biggest days. I, of course, went with my ole reliable Nike sneakers for this outfit because they matched the most with the look. I wore this piece from Never Fully Dressed, which is actually a skirt, a part of a set, but it can also be worn as a dress. It was the perfect quick morning fit before I headed out to the Opening Ceremony.

At night, I wore this strapless dress from Eloquii with the same jean jacket and some Adidas x Bad Bunny collab sneakers. It was an extremely wet Opening Ceremony, and I was absolutely frozen wearing only a jean jacket, but I was grateful for my iconic Phrygian hat, which kept me warm through the ceremony.

Day 3

I spent most of this day indoors and only braved the rain at night for swimming and beach volleyball. I was definitely going for sunny summer vibes during the Paris Olympics, even though it rained for half of my trip. I was a bit of a weather rookie and left my room without any real coverage but the outfit still looked good, no matter how cold I was.

I wore this dress from Eloquii, which was the perfect mix of color and comfort that I am always searching for when getting dressed. I finished off the look with beige Nike shoes. I did a lot of walking this day, and I can happily say there were no sweat stains on my dress, nor were my feet feeling any pain after circling the Eiffel Tower when I was lost looking for the press entrance.

Day 4

My last day in Paris was spent touring the official team houses, but would also be the outfit I had to wear on the plane. I’m not usually an outfit-on-the-plane girl (athleisure is my go-to), so I wanted something stylish but also comfortable enough for a six-hour flight. I landed on this mesh shirt from What Lo Wants. The skirt is from ASOS and is two years old, so it isn’t available anymore, but this one from ASOS has a similar vibe. The shoes are Adidas and are my go-to airport shoes.

Dressing for the Olympic Games was difficult, trying to mersh sport with style. But I had a blast, got compliments, and never had to change out of my shoes, which is always a good sign of a job well done.
