The Oscars red carpet never fails to disappoint fans looking to indulge in this season's most coveted — and expensive — designs in fashion.

As as the most important awards ceremony and red carpet in the world, the Academy Awards is always filled with decadent couture designs and glamorous high fashion looks. From Chanel to Gucci and Valentino to Versace, many celebrities hit the carpet this year ready to fight for the title of best dressed, while others fell short.

The 93rd Academy Awards have come and gone - officially marking the end of an unprecedented awards season in Hollywood.

While the Academy of voters made their picks for the year’s biggest achievements on screen, Yahoo Canada readers were asked to declare one final winner (and loser) of the night: the best and worst dressed from the Oscars red carpet!

Best dressed: Amanda Seyfried in Armani

Amanda Seyfried reigned supreme on the Oscars red carpet this year, channelling old-Hollywood glamour in a cherry-coloured Armani gown with a plunging ruffled neckline.

The "Mank" actress and first-time Oscar nominee was the clear favourite among Yahoo Canada readers, earning 38 per cent of best dressed votes.

The 35-year-old took inspiration from her on-screen character Marion Davies in "Mank," and completed her red carpet look with a sleek up-do and dramatic makeup.

Seyfried joked about making a return to the red carpet following a year of quarantines and lockdowns, telling E! News, "I really can't believe we're around people right now. It's like the Twilight Zone. In a good way."

Runners up: Regina King, Angela Bassett and Carey Mulligan

When it came time to choose a runner up for best dressed, Yahoo Canada readers were torn between three of the red carpet's top picks. Regina King in Louis Vuitton, Angela Bassett in Alberta Ferretti, and Carey Mulligan in Valentino all tied for second place with 17 per cent of reader votes each.

Worst dressed: Halle Berry in Dolce & Gabbana

Yahoo Canada readers were unimpressed with Berry’s flowing Dolce & Gabbana gown and questionable "bowl cut." The 2002 Best Actress Oscar winner was crowned worst dressed of the night, earning 40 per cent of reader votes.

Runner up: Viola Davis in Alexander McQueen

Despite hitting all the right notes in her Oscar-nominated performance for "Ma Rainey's Black Bottom," Davis' cut-out Alexander McQueen gown left fans disappointed. The 55-year-old earned the runner-up spot for worst dressed of the night, with 19 per cent of reader votes.
