New York Fashion Week 2024: A guide to the schedule, dates, more

New York Fashion Week is coming back this fall, and designers are expected to bring their A-game to the catwalk.

Spring/summer 2025 collections from 3.1 Philip Lim, Luar, Willy Chavarria and more will be showcased during the more than 60 runway shows scheduled for the beginning of September.

Though New York design studio Area is slated to be the designer that officially kicks off the Council of Fashion Designers of America-organized event with a fall/winter 2024 runway on Sept. 6, Ralph Lauren and Proenza Schouler are among the fashion houses scheduled to present their designs in the days prior.

CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund winner Melitta Baumeister, a New York-based German designer and Parsons School of Design grad who was awarded a cash prize and mentorship last fall, will conclude the six-day extravaganza.

The celebrity guest list at the spring NYFW runway shows was the who's who of music, Hollywood, sports and, of course, fashion. Beyoncé, Janet Jackson, Sam Smith, Anna Wintour, Emily Ratajkowski and Blake Lively were among the attendees spotted at the star-studded events in February.

When is New York Fashion Week 2024?

Though there are some fashion shows in the days leading up to the official kickoff, NYFW opens Friday, Sept. 6. It's the event that kicks off fashion month, with London, Milan and Paris fashion weeks following.

New York Men's Day takes place Sept. 6, with presentations from A. Potts, Clara Son, Earthling, Sivan and The Salting just before the first runway show. Shows are scheduled each day and will wrap on the evening of Sept. 11.

Every February and September, NYFW provides global designers a platform to show off their creations to tastemakers, store buyers and media.

Where is NYFW?

This year, NYFW moved from downtown's Spring Studios to RXR's Starrett-Lehigh Building in Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood.

The "professional and cultural hub" boasts an outdoor terrace with a view of the Hudson River, a restaurant a food hall and event spaces.

How to watch NYFW shows for free

In a new partnership with Rockefeller Center, for the first time CFDA will stream presentations of collections for public viewing.

From Sept. 6 through Sept. 11, a combination of livestreams and recorded runway shows will be shown on a screen at Rockefeller Center's rink. The screenings are free to attend.
