How Zendaya’s Essence Awards Outfit Looked on Jean Paul Gaultier’s Couture Collection Runway
Zendaya attended the Essence Black Women In Hollywood Awards 2024 at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures on Thursday in Los Angeles wearing a look from Jean Paul Gaultier‘s spring 2020 couture collection.
The “Dune: Part Two” star’s ensemble, styled by Law Roach, consisted of a strapless silver corset top finished with silver embroidery and a pair of low-rise boyfriend jeans in a dark indigo wash.

Zendaya’s outfit was accessorized with an embellished low-waisted silver chain belt. Additionally, the look was paired with several chunky silver cuff bracelets, a large silver neck cuff and additional jewelry pieces from Bulgari, of which Zendaya has been a brand ambassador since 2020.
Jean Paul Gaultier’s spring 2020 couture collection, held at the Théâtre du Châtelet, celebrated his career and brought together models, friends and muses to present more than 230 outfits made from the recycled materials of older collections.
Touching on his vision for the collection in a backstage interview with WWD, Gaultier said, “I was thinking there are too many clothes, so maybe recycle it. Rather than burning them, or something like that, you can make something else. It’s part of my education because of flea markets, things like that. So for me it was an adventure and I was in reality very excited to see what I should do.”
The catwalk included Dita Von Teese in a nude satin belted corset; Rossy de Palma in a short black bustier dress and mantilla; Gigi Hadid in a barely there sailor top and pleated white pants and more stars.
At the Essence Black Women In Hollywood Awards red carpet, Zendaya’s reimagining of the couture look was joined by other entertainers embracing striking style statements of their own. Danielle Brooks was in a gold dress from Hervé Lèger and Letitia Wright in a green look from Ferragamo’s spring 2024 ready-to-wear collection.
