Zendaya’s mysterious “Spider-Man” character may have FINALLY been revealed

Fans have been theorizing about Zendaya’s Spider-Man: Homecoming character for some time time now, but details about who she plays have been pretty vague — until now.

Warning! If you’re not interested in some possibly huge Spider-Man: Homecoming spoilers, turn around now — because if this is true, it’s major.

So, as we said, the identity of Zendaya‘s character in Spider-Man: Homecoming has been kept pretty under wraps. We only know that her name is Michelle and that she appears to be one of Peter’s classmates. All along, everyone has been shooting down the theory that this “Michelle” is really Mary Jane Watson in disguise…even though it was maybe even confirmed. However everyone, including Zendaya has been quick to dismiss this idea.

Well, according to Nerdist, fans got ahold of a novelization of the film, which might provide insight into who Zendaya actually plays — and looks to be potentially bad news for Peter. It sure looks like Michelle isn’t Mary Jane, and in the book, she has the last name Toomes. Toomes is important, because that’s the same name as Adrian Toomes (played by Michael Keaton), aka, The Vulture, aka, Peter Parker’s nemesis in the film.

Talk about an interesting twist!

This could explain how the Vulture knows who Peter is and why he’s able to threaten the people Peter cares about. And also why the Vulture says he’ll do anything to protect his family in trailers we’ve seen.

Guess we’ll find out if this theory is right when Spider-Man: Homecoming swings into theaters on July 7th. And if it is true, can’t Peter just crush on a normal girl whose father isn’t a super villain?!
