Persona 4 Arena Ultimax introduces Tohru Adachi

Fighting games have recently been more about updates rather than doing sequels, making it feel like it's the 90's all over again (how many Street Fighter II versions came out? Exactly!).

The latest fighter that got us interested comes out later this summer from Atlus, which is preparing to release its upcoming fighter, Persona 4: The Ultimax Ultra Suplex Hold (what a name!). Today, they even showed off the first DLC character earlier today: Tohru Adachi.

In Persona's original story, Adachi is portrayed as a textbook lousy detective. He makes rookie mistakes, vomits at the sight of murders, and is seemingly unable to keep his mouth shut about the cases. His character will undoubtably deliver some comedy to the new title.

Adachi, who originally appears in Persona 4, will bring his Persona, Magatsu-Izanagi of the Jester arcana, into the arena. Judging from gameplay he seems to be a rush down, up in your face type of character with the potential for some pretty slick mix ups.

Persona 4 Arena Ultimax will release on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 later this year and, as an added bonus, Tohru Adachi will playable for free for the first week following the game's launch.
