This 45-day cruise will take you to the Mediterranean and back for around $7,500

If you love the Mediterranean but dread long-haul flights, Holland America Line has another option.

The cruise line will offer its Ultimate Mediterranean & Atlantic Passage cruise again next year, sailing round-trip from New York. The cruise will visit 21 ports in 45 days, modeled on an itinerary from more than 100 years earlier in 1925.

“Since recreating this voyage of the 1920s, it has become one of our most popular and fastest selling,” Paul Grigsby, vice president of revenue planning and deployment at Holland America, said in a news release Wednesday. “There is simply no better way to explore this deeply the charm, delicious cuisine, and rich history of the Mediterranean while only unpacking your suitcase once.”

When is Holland America’s 2026 Ultimate Mediterranean & Atlantic Passage cruise?

The cruise will depart on Oct. 8, 2026, aboard the line’s 1,432-guest Volendam ship.

Where will the cruise go?

Guests will begin their cruise with a transatlantic crossing – and five days at sea – before reaching their first port at Ponta Delgada in Portugal’s Azores archipelago. That will be followed by stops in Lisbon; Barcelona, Spain; Livorno and Civitavecchia in Italy (which offer access to Florence and Pisa, and Rome, respectively); Heraklion, Crete and more.

The itinerary will also include overnight stays in Alexandria, Egypt and Istanbul, Turkey and multiple late-night departures. In all, passengers will visit 12 countries.

The cruise is one of several Legendary Voyages the line announced Wednesday, including a 28-Day Legendary Arctic Circle Solstice itinerary, a Legendary Glaciers & Volcanoes: Alaska to Hawaii cruise – with the option to sail 27 or 28 days – and others.
