Ever been dunked in grits? 5 SC festivals in April you’ll want to check out
If you’re itching to get out of the house to enjoy the nice spring weather, why not try a few festivals too?
Along with warming temperatures and plants in full bloom, South Carolinians now have their pick of spring festivals. From celebrations of all things strawberry to a near obsession over grits, there should be a festival for nearly everyone.
Here are five of the best South Carolina festivals scheduled during April.
Columbia International Festival
When: April 6-7
Where: 1200 Rosewood Dr., Columbia
Website: https://www.cifonline.org/
Kick off the first weekend in April with a celebration of other cultures. See the artifacts, costumes and souvenirs of about 60 countries. Event goers will also get to sample exotic flavors of foreign cuisines as well as learn how to do something like fold origami, use chopsticks and play cultural games.
World Grits Festival
When: April 12-14
Where: St. George
This festival is home to the “World Famous Rolling in the Grits Contest.” Really, what more needs to be said?
But if you’re still not convinced to attend this festival, know that it will also feature plenty of grits meals, beauty queens, street dancing, live bands, a grits-eating contest and more.
South Carolina Strawberry Festival
When: April 12-30
Where: Fort Mill
It’s nearly time for the 15th annual South Carolina Strawberry Festival, a regional celebration of spring and all things strawberry. The festival will feature tons of fresh strawberries, strawberry-centric treats, live entertainment, recipe contests, pig races, kid rides, a car show and a fireworks display.
Charleston Jazz Festival
When: April 18-21
Where: Music Farm, Charleston Music Hall, Firefly Distillery
