Here’s 5 places to eat and have a beer in Columbus when watching Georgia play Clemson
It has once again reached that time of year when Saturday determines how you’re going to feel the rest of the following week as our favorite college football teams hit the gridiron.
Being a lifelong Alabama fan and alumni, I am looking forward to seeing what is in store for my beloved team under the new direction of Kalen DeBoer, but the Alabama game isn’t the big one this weekend: the Georgia Bulldogs and the Clemson Tigers will play in a top 25 matchup Saturday, which may be the best game of the week.
For those looking to relax and enjoy the game the Ledger-Enquirer has compiled a list of five restaurants/bars to watch the game, grab a bite to eat, and have a beer.
Mr. Wing Sports Grill and Bar
For those looking to watch the game at a place with good beer prices, good food, pool tables, and large screens showing every game, Mr. Wing is definitely the place for you. I got the bacon cheese fries on my visit and they were amazing.
The cheese on the fries was perfectly melted and the bacon bits were smokey and most likely from a thicker cut of bacon (my favorite). It’s impossible to look almost anywhere in this restaurant and not see the game you want to watch.
Also, for the die hard fans, the restaurant has amazing murals of different team logos in the foyer of the restaurant.
The Dawg House Sports Bar & Grill
The Dawg House definitely reminds me of fond memories of bars I attended when I was a student at the University of Alabama. It features pool tables, dart boards and the ring game — all of which I am semi-skilled in.
I got the sampler, which featured multiple appetizers including hot wings, mini corn dogs, fried jalapenos and chicken tenders. All of the above tasted great and are the perfect accompaniment for watching football or “College Gameday” beforehand.
The bar is advertising on its Facebook page $15 buckets of beer, $0.50 wings (dine in only and limit 20 per person) and a free shot every time Georgia scores
The Outskirts Sports Bar & Grill
The Outskirts is another great option to relax and watch a game with friends while having other activities to do at the same time.
The bar features pool tables and dart boards. The Outskirts is also a great place for those who like live music as the bar has hosted many talented acts.
Though I’ve never eaten there, I’ve heard good things about their buffalo wings. Definitely consider The Outskirts for your game day viewing.
The Mix Market
What do I need to say? I think the Mix Market has the best french fries in the city of Columbus and the rest of their food is really good as well. I spent many football Saturdays last season at Mix Market chowing down on a Margherita pizza before filling a glass with cold honey colored beer.
The beer wall gives patrons a diverse selection with an option for even the pickiest of drinkers, and it’s just fun pulling the lever and serving yourself a beer.
If beer isn’t your thing, grab some wine, or a cocktail from the bar.
Pour Decisions Sports Bar
While I’ve never been to Pour Decisions, how can you not love a place with such a clever name. Pour Decisions opened in October 2023.
The bar ended up with a packed house during its soft open last year after news spread through the Columbus, GA Foodies Facebook Group, according to Ledger-Enquirer reporting.
Definitely consider spending your Saturday cheering on your team, and if you’re an Auburn fan, making “pour decisions.”
