From Town & Country

To every couple who has tried to get married in the past year: we feel you (and congratulations!). Whether you rescheduled for 2021 in hopes the pandemic would be under control or are forging ahead, the most important thing to keep in mind is that the celebration and ceremony will be special no matter what size, where, or when it happens. We've been so inspired by the creative ways couples have embraced the new normal—here are five wedding trends that get us excited for 2021.

A smaller wedding allows for a beautiful, intimate party. Gone are the days of renting tableware for 300. Depending on the wedding size, it often makes more sense to order your wedding china early and use that for all or part of the table (event planner Jung Lee has long championed at least ordering enough wedding china for the sweetheart table). Also consider buying items like nice glasses and flatware, which you can use at home later. It will look amazing and fill your home with sweet mementos of your big day.

Brides traditionally wore pearls on their wedding day, until it became, well, too traditional. But when jewelers started experimenting, pearls have made a grand return in a forms. A classic strand is lovely, but there are fun accessories from hair pins to cuffs that will all look amazing.

Princess Beatrice's wedding at Windsor, which was peak English garden sophistication, was one of 2020's few highlights. More people are choosing outdoor celebrations to help stay safe and decking everything out in flowers is simply festive and pretty. Let the garden party theme inspire your outfit, guest dress code, and decor and the results will be royals-approved.

Single-Serving Chic

Navigating a Covid-era wedding means having to re-think a few traditions, like a giant wedding cake or shared charcuterie boards. Instead, opt for small plates, jars, and containers as much as possible. We particularly love personal pre-made cocktails served with personal monogrammed napkins and a cheery straw to slip under a mask—creative solutions can still be sophisticated.

Some people love a classic wedding gown, but one upside to pandemic weddings is that there are so many fresh options to explore. A classic bridal suit like Bianca Jagger? A delicate cropped overlay and a sweeping skirt? Play around with more casual alternatives to find your own personal iconic wedding look.
