  • Salma Hayek shared what might be her best swimsuit post yet for National swimsuit Day.

  • Fans were obsessed with the 56-year-old’s celebratory shot.

  • The star has previously said she finds sharing swimsuit photos “liberating.”

Just a week after Salma Hayek fashioned a couple of towels as a two-piece for a nude sauna snap, the Black Mirror star is celebrating National swimsuit Day by posing in a plunging swimsuit.

“Happy #NationalBikiniDay!” the 56-year-old captioned a photo of her standing knee-deep in a swimming pool, wearing a bohemian-style suit and ornate gold earrings. “Can you believe the swimsuit has only been around for 77 years?! Let’s hope they don’t ban them too #notathrowback.”

Fans loved the post. “Icon,” one person commented. “You’re so empowering,” another added. “Stunning,” someone else wrote.

It’s possible that the actress felt the need to disclose the photo’s timestamp because she has previously opened up about banking vacation swimsuit snaps to post throughout the year.

“I saved my pictures, I’m not in the same condition today and I’m spreading the love out like every two weeks,” she told Entertainment Tonight in 2021. “People are sick of it but I’m going to let them take a break. They’re going to think I’m wearing a swimsuit every day. No, they’re all from the same location.”

Recently snapped or not, Hayek shares the photos unabashedly—she finds it “liberating,” she told ET, adding: “I’m glad I took a lot of pictures, I have no shame on it.”

If you zoom in on her National swimsuit Day post, you can spot the few gray hairs and “wrinkles” she recently flaunted in a close-up selfie. She’s not ashamed to wear a swimsuit at 56, and she’s not afraid to show off her age, either.

In fact, in a February interview with Glamour, she said “everything” gets better with time, calling aging “beautiful.” She added that all of her preconceived notions about getting older were wrong. “I thought getting older meant I wasn’t going to work; I’m working,” she said. “I thought getting older maybe meant that you’re not in love anymore; I’m in love. I don’t feel that I lost my flexibility or my agility or even my strength. I do have to say that I have found it beautiful, getting older with someone.”

That explains why she lives and shares so freely. Take another recent swimsuit shot, for example. Last month, she lounged on a yacht wearing a periwinkle blue suit. “Some people don’t like grey days, but I think every day is precious,” she wrote. “Adore your week, No matter what it brings ❤️.”

For the Magic Mike star, it’s more than just a swimsuit post. It’s about embracing herself and living in the moment.
