Now? It’s time to look at what’s called a blue moon, one that’s a supermoon that popped up Monday night all over the world. The blue moon isn't actually blue, but it's the nickname for the third full moon in a season, and it was a supermoon because the moon was close to Earth. Got all that?
That's good. Because we've got some beautiful images to get to from Monday's blue supermoon of August 2024. Here they are:

Chinese astronauts on board the country's Tiangong space station have given us a rare glimpse into what life is like roughly 260 miles above the surface. As seen in an almost seven-minutes-long video shared by Chinese state-owned news agency CCTV, members of the current Shenzhou-18 crew give an extensive tour of their temporary abode. […]
NASA has identified nine possible landing sites for its Artemis III mission in September 2026 that will return astronauts to the moon for the first time in more than 50 years, the space agency announced Monday.
The conventional wisdom among astronomers is that black holes - those exceptionally dense objects with gravity so powerful that not even light can escape - form in the violent explosion, called a supernova, of a massive dying star. Researchers have identified a black hole that appears to have come into being through the collapse of the core of a large star in its death throes, but without the usual blast. Black holes have previously been spotted orbiting with one other star or one other black hole in what are called binary systems.
JIUQUAN, China (AP) — China said all systems are ready to launch the next crew to its orbiting space station early Wednesday, the latest mission to make the country a major space power.
NEW YORK (AP) — Donald Trump hosted a rally featuring crude and racist insults at New York’s Madison Square Garden, turning what his campaign had dubbed as the event where he would deliver his closing message into an illustration of what turns off his critics.
Well, that was fast. Mere seconds after Fox & Friends co-host Steve Doocy acknowledged “offensive comments about Latinos and Puerto Ricans and African Americans” were made at Donald Trump’s Madison Square Garden rally, his colleague Brian Kilmeade attacked journalists for reporting on those comments. The Sunday rally’s first speaker was comedian and podcaster Tony Hinchcliffe, who made a series of vulgar jokes about groups the former president’s campaign is actively trying to woo in the days bef
Anna Kendrick was asked during an interview on the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast to name the worst note she ever got from a director while filming, and she answered by calling out one filmmaker for strategically embarrassing her on set in front of dozens of extras. The director mocked Kendrick’s improv skills, only for said …
As a North Korean escapee and former soldier, I never imagined my countrymen would find themselves fighting a war that has nothing to do with their homeland.
"I found out my husband didn't actually register the name we had both discussed and agreed on. The name registered on the birth certificate is the last name of his boss, who is also a woman."
In a Reddit post, the woman recounted a series of events during her wedding weekend that have left her questioning her relationship with her new spouse
Disgusted locals are demanding action after their neighbours turned their home into a makeshift TIP with tonnes of rubbish dumped on the driveway. Residents living on Peach Avenue, in Stafford, say their lives are being made a misery by the eyesore mountain of waste along the residential street. Shocking photos show piles of debris stacked up on the driveway - including rubble, sofas, mattresses, wooden panels, fridges and carpets. Homeowners say the mound of filth has been left to fester for over a year and is attracting rats and causing health problems for their children.
Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov promised on Tuesday to take revenge for a drone attack that caused a fire at a military training academy in his south Russian region. Ukraine has frequently struck Russia with drones in the course of the war, but Tuesday's attack appeared to be the first against Chechnya. "They've bitten us - we will destroy them," Kadyrov told reporters in a video published by Russian state news agency RIA.
