During one America's Got Talent audition episode, judges Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, Sofía Vergara and guest judge Eric Stonestreet were treated to a spectacular aerial routine from Alan Silva.

Though the acrobat expressed that he was nervous people might judge him for his height, he gave the performance of a lifetime set to the powerful Sia song "Alive." When he finished his routine, Sofia told him, “that was the performance of a giant.”

Though the NBC competition show touched on Alan's backstory a bit, there's so much more to know about the talented artist. He was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil in 1982 and is a sixth-generation circus performer. TalentRecap.com reports that he started training in floor acrobatics at the age of four, and eventually picked up aerial acrobatics and trapeze as he got older.

His brother, as noted on the show, is AGT season 11 knife thrower Alfredo Silva from the group Deadly Games. As fans can remember, Alfredo ended up getting eliminated in the semifinals, but later made it to the top 12 on season 2 of America's Got Talent: The Champions.

Both Alan and Alfredo are known for their impressive TikTok videos. As of right now, Alan has over 239,000 TikTok followers on the app.

But that's not the only place fans have gotten to see Alan perform. The artist was asked to join Cirque du Soleil in 2002. Unfortunately though, he fell during practice and broke both of his hips prior to the start of the show. Luckily, he made a full recovery and, just a year later, became part of Cirque du Soleil's Zumanity production at the New York-New York hotel in Las Vegas.

As The Las Vegas Sun describes it, Alan's performance in Zumanity "is a literal highlight of the long-running production show and one of the climatic acts."

When it came to his AGT performance, it was an extra special event for Alan, since it was the first time his two children got to see him perform live.

“My goal is to perform with my heart and my soul for the audience but also, I’m competing, not just performing. I was nervous because … the stakes were high," he told the outlet after his AGT audition. "And since that was the first time my kids were able to watch me perform live, that was the cherry on top on the nervous side for me.”

In the end, Alan hopes to spread a positive message through his art, no matter how far he ends up going in the competition.

“I just want to tell everyone my goal is to see myself without the adversity I’ve had in my life because of my size,” he said. “I’ve been judged a lot for my entire life and bullied a lot because of my size. And if you are a person who has felt this way about your own image or body type or whatever you’re going through, I just want to say you should continue to be the best version of yourself, hold your head up high, and keep going. Because everyone deserves a beautiful life and everybody is special in their own unique way.”
