Alberta's top baby names announced, royal influence seen

Olivia and Liam topped the charts in Alberta this year as the most popular baby names.

Olivia took over top spot from Emma last year as the most popular name for girls, while Liam held on to the most popular name for boys for the second year in a row.

But last year's royal visit by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge also inspired parents.

Eight boys were named Prince, while six girls were named Princess. And one boy was named Princewill.

There were a few unique names as well — such as Caliber, Cannon, Essay, Jäger and Pistol for boys and Luv, Dreamz, Cedar, Feather Meta and Mega for girls.
