Alex Cooper Reveals the NSFW Secret to Keeping Her Newlywed Glow — and It Involves Lots of Whiskey (Exclusive)
Cooper married husband Matt Kaplan in April 2024
Alex Cooper is one very happy newlywed.
Speaking exclusively with PEOPLE at Media Row in New Orleans, La., the Call Her Daddy podcast host, 30, opened up about her relationship with husband Matt Kaplan and how the two have kept their "newlywed glow" during their first year of marriage.
“Matt and I have at least weekly whiskey and hot tub nights,” she revealed as the secret to keeping their spark alive. “We get naked, go in the hot tub for like literally an hour until we turn into prunes, and we drink in the hot tub. And it really is the best way to end a day.”
“Even if we’ve had the most stressful day, that’s usually the moments where we’re like, ‘Hot tub?’” Cooper said. “And we literally just walk across our yard naked.”
She noted that they often get in the tub with their dogs, and “sometimes” they have snacks too. Cooper joked that she doesn’t need a vacation to relax, because, “My backyard’s my sanctuary and I love my hot tub.”
Cooper and Kaplan, 40, first met over a Zoom call in 2020. Cooper initially kept his identity secret until they announced their engagement in 2023. They later tied the knot on April 6, 2024, in Riviera Maya, Mexico.
Cooper, who signed a new podcast deal for Call Her Daddy with SiriusXM last summer, said that taking that time to relax is essential since she’s so busy working — and podcasting — right now.
“I talk every single day. I actually don’t know what quiet sounds like,” she joked. But thanks to her new deal, she said, “I’m so excited to give my fans daily content that I couldn’t give them before.”

Still, she said, while it’s “exciting” to sign a new deal, “I just put pressure on myself.” Of her and her husband’s work with their media company Trending, she said, “We are in our grind mode right now. But we’re both so passionate about it, it doesn’t feel like work.”
Back in December, Cooper, who also launched her Unwell Hydration beverage line, told PEOPLE her advice for other people looking to start a business. “My advice to everyone that is trying to start businesses is don't get sidetracked," she said. "Don't try to appease everyone. Don't try to do a million things at once.”
"If you focus on the one thing that you are educated on, and you are essentially a savant in, then just focus on that and trust your gut because trying to appease everyone is not going to get you anywhere," she said.
