Stylish bridesmaids dresses inspired by Selena Gomez's chic black ensemble

Just days ahead of her 27th birthday (FYI, it’s today!), former Disney star Selena Gomez showed off her maid of honour skills as she took part in her cousin Priscilla De Leon’s wedding.

As part of her MOH duties this past weekend, Selena gave a heartfelt speech during the reception in which she shared a sweet message for the bride and groom.

“You taught me to be strong for anything in life that happens," she gushed to the newlyweds. "I'm so happy I get to spend my life with you. I pray for you guys all the time. Jay you are an outstanding man."

Aside from the gorgeous bride, all eyes were on Selena who stunned in an off-the-shoulder mermaid-style dress with a thigh-high slit.

For the elegant event, each bridesmaid wore a slightly different version of a floor-length black gown for a chic monochromatic colour palette.

The mix-and-match trend that De Leon chose for her wedding party has been gaining popularity in recent years, as each bridesmaid is able to choose a dress that’s both comfortable and flattering for their body.

Gone are the days when black was reserved for sombre events, and it’s now a totally acceptable (not to mention fashion-forward) request for wedding guests to show up in all-black outfits.
